Mr. and Mrs. Lee's home is a beautiful 3-side brick residence in an upscale Atlanta neighborhood. Innovative Outdoors had previously designed and installed extensive landscaping in the Lees' yard, creating an exotic setting with vibrant colors and unique plants. The Lee family was very happy with the landscaping, but they wanted to add  an outdoor living area that would allow them to enjoy their backyard more.

Challenges

The initial stage of the overhaul involved tearing everything down on the backside of the house. Mr. Lee wanted to brick the back of the house to increase the value and visual appeal of the home. The Lees also asked the IO Team to create a patio area covered by a pergola on the back deck. In this patio, they wanted an outdoor fireplace, a grill, and an outdoor television with surround sound. Once the right brick was chosen and built onto the back of the house, the next step was creating the patio area. Our construction teams had previously slotted the brick face , allowing the pergola joists to mount right into the house. The new patio features a grand cedar pergola mounted into a large stacked stone fireplace on one corner. Resting above the keystone on the fireplace is a water/weatherproof 37" plasma television with satellite and in the other corner of the patio is a grill and burner, with cabinet doors, all mounted in a stacked stone counter. To complete the living area, stylish outdoor furniture rests on a smooth travertine tile floor. Cascading flagstone stairs transition from the deck to a stone walkway that wraps around the side of the house. Walled planting beds border the patio and contribute the final piece of the beautiful vista, while outdoor lighting set the entire design off.

Results

Upon completion of the construction and landscaping, the back of the Lee home had been completely transformed. The Lee family now has a beautiful backyard patio that they enjoy regularly, from steak dinners on the grill to watching movies by the fireplace on cool evenings. As the night rolls around, the lighting accents the structure perfectly, highlighting the grand stature of the columns and fireplace.
